Trash Today, Track Tomorrow.

From running tracks and basketball and tennis courts to playgrounds and even synthetic turf fields, sports surfaces of all types can incorporate Nike Grind into their design.

Incorporating Nike Grind in these surfaces decreases the need for virgin rubber and other materials, and also offers an alternative to recycled products like tire rubber, which may not meet the consumer products safety guidelines that Nike Grind does.

To create these surfaces, Nike partners with top-quality surfacing companies, providing them with Nike Grind materials and working together to develop innovative sports surfaces usually containing between 10 and 40 percent Nike Grind. Click below to launch a slideshow of surface images:

Where the Grind Goes

  • Outdoor Basketball & Tennis Courts – Nike Grind Foam is used as a cushion below the playing surface, providing support and springiness these courts.
  • Indoor Synthetic Basketball & Volleyball Courts – Nike Grind Foam and Fiber are used to create cushioning beneath these surfaces.
  • Indoor Wood Basketball & Volleyball Courts – Nike Grind Foam and Fiber are used to create cushioning beneath these surfaces as well.
  • Running Tracks – Nike Grind Rubber is mixed with virgin rubber to create synthetic indoor and outdoor running tracks.
  • Soccer and Football Fields – Synthetic fields use Nike Grind Rubber granules as infill – the “soil” of the field.
  • Playgrounds – Nike Grind Rubber goes into the cushy, impact-absorbing surfacing around play areas.
  • Gym Flooring – Nike Grind Rubber is used in both interlocking flooring tiles for home gyms and high-performance, shock-absorbing flooring for professional gyms.
